We all have emotions! God created us to have emotions…thankfully we are not a bunch of robots walking around! Emotions are to be a gauge and not a guide. Emotions are to let us know where we are at, but not to boss us around. When we take our emotions to God we can allow him to work in our hearts and direct our actions.

Scriptures reviewed with the children:
- Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand - Proverbs 19:21 ESV
- Whoever restrains his words has knowledge, and he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding. Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent. - Proverbs 17:27-28 ESV
- Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit that he who takes a city. - Proverbs 16:32 ESV
- An angry person causes arguments, and someone who is quick tempered is guilty of many sins. - Proverbs 29:22 ERV
If you are only doing something because that is how you FEEL… what result do you think you will get?
- What can anger cause us to do?
- What can anxiety cause us to do?
- What can sadness cause us to do?
- What can happiness cause us to do?
- What can joy cause us to do?
Emotions can be powerful to the one feeling them. Emotions can be a good indicator about what is going on in our heart. Remember- emotions are a gauge and not a guide! Out of control emotions tend to not produce the righteousness that God desires. (James 1:20). We are to have self control. (A fruit of the spirit! Gal 5:22-23)
God has created us to feel! There is no one who knows more about our emotions than God.
